Boras the Blade A “Snatch” at the Chess Game
December 16, 2008
Boras has put together a play pattern here.
Tex was perceived to be the highest free agent to sign this Winter. The Yankees outrageously sign CC Sabathia first for 23 million over 7 years (with the 7th year an option and 3 year opt out clause). It’s set the mark for the lawyering “Boras the Blade” to argue over, or I should say, his team to concoct leaking to the presses such current ridiculous figures.
After Tex was traded to the Halos, what was the “Boras’s brag” figure he was seeking in the off-season? 10 years @ $200 million, 20 mil per year. Now, it’s rumored 8 years @ $200 million by the Red Sox that sports talk show host Dan Patrick announced (http://anaheim.angels.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20081215&content_id=3718507&vkey
=news_ana&fext=.jsp&c_id=ana). Up from the Angels and Nationals rumored matching offers of 8 years @ $160 million, over the same amount of years, I find it coincidental the 40 million more supposed Boston is offering surfaces in a matter of 3 days equating to the 40 million more that CC agreed to by his years for NY. On top of that, how Boras’s initial 20 million per year perceived over 10 years transcends into 25 million per year over 8 years, because of Sabathia. Assuming the Angels and Nationals have matched by their initial offers, they’re simply basing them by the 20 million per year Boras was initially seeking but for under 10 years on the market. Heaven forbid what I just said sounds like him as all this looks like him!
He’s a typical opportunist, capitalizing to launch off the New York money to Boston by the historic heated rivalry to show biz; meanwhile, Tex is probably allowing for him to lead him this way. That Boras has Manny to do that with the Yankees makes me even more sick about him to my stomach to think about!!
The following source gives sources displaying sporadic amount inaccuracies (http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2008/12/15/red-sox-yankees-ready-offers-to-mark-teixeira/). Patrick’s announcement looks like a Boras leak.
His shenanigans corrupt this great game of ours once again, unleveling what was leveling that may force the salary cap issue once again in Major League Baseball. With all due respect, Mr. Boras, capitalism doesn’t make greed but the people, as people like yourself %@#& up a good thing!!
Halos Happy Halladays?!
December 12, 2008
Should it become finalized Peavy won’t come an hour north to the Halos, Halladay appears the next tremendous opportunity.
Looking at the Blue Jays current depth chart (http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/team/depth_chart/index.jsp?c_id=tor), they’re without Marcum until 2010 and McGowan until mid-2009. They’ve lost AJ to the Yankees, a chunk off the starting rotation anchor with Halladay. GM JP Riccardi might be faced with a new decision here, whether to trade Halladay while secured through 2010 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Halladay).
It’s apparent he’s dealing with a big drop off, mending around Halladay having signed Clement after AJ. Marcum and McGowan, meanwhile, were those prospects on the horizon, and unless Riccardi has more to reach into of the Jays system replacing them, he may be forced to trump from the big club to the organization’s future wealth.
The Jays offense is presently anchored by Wells in CF and Rios in RF. Travis Snider projects in their OF, but everything else around the diamond is thin where JP may need to start looking outward to build, through free agency or trade. The Angels, possibly, present that opportunistic source for him off Halladay, who have pitching and middle or corner infield prospects to save him of the free agent spending.
Halladay could be on the block here, soon, with the Halos that match!
Knowing Halladay is secured through 2010, if you’re the Angels considering a trade for him and his agent demands an extension, would you give it to him; better yet, should the Angels demand that extension if his agent doesn’t??
Considering what’s unfolded now, it’s Halladay’s opportunity to bring his anchor to a rare team prominent and resourceful for world championship bids for quite some time ahead. With 2 years remaining, I’d assume he’d want to stay longer with a reasonable extension in order, would he not?
The Love/Hate NY Contract
December 11, 2008
Details yet official, the Yankees signed CC Sabathia for 6 years @ 140 million, vested option 7th year and 21 million, with a 3 year opt out clause, altogether totaling 23.33 million per year over 6 that the Yankees are committed too (with 21 million more on a 7th year option). Assuming, the 3 years opt out offering likely sealed the deal against any discomfort that might develop for him and his family during that time (according to reports).
Clever, desperate, extremely desperate by the Yankees, but what does this actually say?
It’s “The Love/Hate NY Contract” Cashman schemed up that actually conveys different from the soft, “leveled to your comfort, CC” sales pitch. As the Yankees and their faithful expect World Series every year, that first 3 years is “the chance to prove yourself worthy, CC” window. And, not a matter of whether he can acclimate to that environment within that time, moreover whether the pressure caused the undervalued performance, “whether he has the balls to withstand the abuse while holding the Yankees to that money those remaining 3 years as his agent attempts to ill-advise against opting out.”
Yankees history has proven with an approval and acceptance process. If you hit that window immediately contributing to World Series wins, you’re accepted, whether your a free agent, out the system, or were traded for, that’s the bottom line! And, not only with that money involved but with the current economy, the price of that new ballpark and a seat, the improved and achieved better balanced league competition…not only are the Yankees foolish of continuing to spend themselves into oblivion until they achieve dynasty again, but CC for overlooking the torture he’s about to receive, risky without World Series championship guarantee in the first place.
Money’s exciting, overwhelming, while becoming a business for an adult getting to play a kids game…what kid doesn’t dream that? And, as it involves the chance to be a staple to the grandest team on that stage…the dream’s come true. But, as the Yankees go against the grain fortified best to the farm while leveling within the competition, it’s turned nightmare for any Yankee player setting foot on a field with money as the fertilizer.
Halos Winter Rumble
December 8, 2008
Garland’s declined arb, this year’s WM could be a real shaker. (Careful now, SoCal’s already had them spread out in a series of their own the day before going in)!!
Stark writes the Halos may give Tex a small 24-48 hour window to accept their offer, <http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&page=rumblings081207.
They will, they refuse to waste any time with Boras running the table. Actually, upon first indication of that holdup, they’re conceding Tex elsewhere. Good for them, doesn’t the initiative our front office is taking here make you feel proud as a Halos fan?!
What’s happening here is the very thing I pointed out in “Halos Beating Boras at the Chess Game,” November 26.
I love this arrogant expression! They’re telling Tex they will waste no time over him, shifting it to CC instead, and it’s his loss (missing the post season each year throughout his next contract) as he gives Boras control. That window unveils whether Tex ends up signing, resenting Boras to the point of possibly firing him, or that he sought fortune all along. Altogether, it reveals whether Boras is a service or disservice. Of course, whether Tex signs with the Halos or not, Boras proves a service, “and maybe he’ll be happy” if it’s elsewhere, as part of that arrogance.
In “Halos Peaving the Way?!” under my blog December 5, I point out that there would be just as much residual to the organization’s short and long term wealth/success holding scarcely demanded quality starting pitching without Tex.
Let the Boras track record speak over “rootless multimillionaires” (<http://www.boston.com/news/globe/magazine/articles/2007/04/01/why_scott_boras_is_the_best_and_worst_thing_to_happen_to_baseball/) with many of his clients while it appears Tex has allowed him to lead the dance. I predict the Halos will flex their resource muscle and do most of the shaking during these meetings, coming out after trading for Peavy and making CC happy. Brace yourselves, Halos fans!
So long Tex, we very much enjoyed your short stay!!
Halos Peaving the Way?!
December 5, 2008
Consider the following potential possible Halos rotation:
Peavy
Lackey
Santana
Saunders
Weaver
It’s
a disservice to Weaver with the multitude of the other clubs’
opportunity that he’s higher up in the rotation, pressing. (His agent) Scott
Boras would object while it suppresses his value (silver lining his own
pockets) without him pitching elsewhere at this point, meanwhile.
Should they not leverage Weaver traded for Peavy, the money taken up
from Peavy and/or CC for the offense comes from Weaver’s trade.
Put Garland in place of Weaver, hopeful he accepts the arb, and that’s still quite a rotation to deal with, without Weaver.
Garland’s
answer could be pivotal here toward their next decision sustaining the
organization’s short and long term wealth/success that is residual:
If he accepts, they plan for Peavy and Tex
If he declines, they plan for Peavy and CC (without Tex)
Concerning, upon my telephone conversation with Kevin Kennedy and Dave Sims (Mariners pbp TV announcer) into the XM/Sirius MLB radio show, Kevin suggested Garland might want to consider it while the lower profile free agent this season compared to next after putting together a good year.
With
a decline – CC, Peavy, Lackey, Santana, Saunders – is abominable, as
they create the otherwise offense with Weaver’s trade.
Look at the following decision tree:
Is Peavy + CC – Tex > or < Peavy + Tex – CC?
Myself
and the Halos were initially gung ho on Tex as the priority to invest.
Naturally, his years make for the residual but Boras is that delay and
inconvenience discovered, meanwhile, and Peavy + CC – Tex as the backup
plan strategy make it, too. And in my view, this is Bill Stoneman’s
advice Reagins is following:
There’s just as much residual holding scarcely demanded quality starting pitching.
Exemplified, the people, communication, and coordination behind the decisions
with the player resources in the Halos organization make the best of
both worlds. And, as the first piece to fall during the Winter Meetings, it’s outstanding strategy should they ‘flex that resource muscle’ (shaking up the rest of the baseball world) trading for Peavy as influence on Tex or CC’s decision to sign with them.
Look around, we have much to be thankful for and fortunate
about as Halos fans!
They’re Peaved Should Garland Accept!
December 4, 2008
The Padres have traded Kahlil Greene to the Cards and have moved his 6.5 million off their books, apparently for prospect pitching, details yet disclosed.
As this is happening just before the Las Vegas Winter Meetings next week, it could be a precursor to Peavy being dealt. The Braves just traded for Javier Vasquez that either indicates they’re re-opening for a Peavy trade or are moving in aggressively on AJ Burnett (rumored to have made a 5-year offer). The Braves have quite the compensation to offer SS Yunel Escobar to the Peavy trade provided they ink Rafael Furcal (rumored interested in returning to Atlanta).
Timing-wise, the Halos, however, have the greatest leverage among their resources and that Bud Black connection compared to any team to trade for Peavy, where I think they should and might be flexing that muscle going into these meetings. The Braves must rely on a signing to replace and can’t give up Escobar this soon, the Halos could have Aybar or Wood ready to go here. I say Aybar as there’s Mighty Maicer already. Trading for Peavy first would still make Tex a priority, hopefully enticing him to the fullest to sign.
Indicating, the Halos offered John Garland arbitration who has until Sunday to accept. Should he, the same rotation as last year but with Peavy out there move on him here!
Weaver and Aybar serve. Unless Black prefers Adenhardt, which he might actually, Weaver then pulls for added offense or prospects from another team needing starting pitching. Colorado for 3B Atkins, White Sox for Dye in LF, Blue Jays for Travis Snider (if they sign a free agent OF replacing and lose Burnett) are a few possibilities, but just about every team needs a starting pitcher to add and would be interested in Weaver. Though Scott Boras his agent, Weaver won’t be arbitration eligible until 2010-12 and free agent 2013 (<http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=mlb&id=380).
Mr. Garland, please accept it and be glad you did here!!
With Peavy, no point hanging onto Weaver who suits someone else’s rotation 2 to 4 rather than 5 to the Halos that would disservice him, moreover. Though surprising to many the Halos offered Garland arbitration, he fits the 4th or 5th spot to their rotation still with Peavy acquired, where during the during the meetings is that soonest time possible to start fielding offers for Weaver as most ideal.
